Filming Blog: Dark and Mysterious

Hello and welcome back to my blog. After school was finished, I headed straight down to Hollywood Beach so that my group could film the mall scenes in the film. I was nervous about filming in the place, even after visiting and my extensive research. Thankfully, my group didn’t spent long here and I made sure all the scenes needed were filmed quickly and in good quality.

At first, when I arrived at the mall I couldn’t find the entrance. It look a bit of searching, but it was actually hidden behind the hotel pool and few construction materials. When I got to the entrance, I called over Hailey so that I could start filming.

The first thing that was filmed was outside of the mall. A tilt was used to show Hailey standing in-front of the mall. There were a few people in the area and I was worried that they would be in the film. However, the position that the scene was film at did not show any people around the area. With that done, I moved inside the building so that I could get the shot of Hailey looking like she was going to leave the mall. I then shot a pan of Hailey looking through the window of a store, only for it to be empty . The abandoned stores and added a surreal feeling to the film that I really liked.

The following scenes were fairly simple to film. They all focused on Hailey looking around for anyone who could be in the mall. In one of the scenes, Hailey calls out to her mother. The emptiness of the mall created a very cool echo effect that fit the tone of the film perfectly. When all the mall scenes were finished, I headed back to Hailey’s house to review all the clips that I got.

With that, the filming was over for this project. Now, I was ready for the editing process to commence! This is Kyra signing off!
