Review Blog: Show and Tell

Hello and welcome back to my blog! My editing process was now finished, meaning it was time for reviewing. After spending much time editing, filming, and watching my film, it was difficult to objectively review my film. With that in mind, I decided to ask my friends and family for help! The first person that I asked to view my film was my sister. She loves to watch movies and TV shows so I knew she would be the perfect person to give me feedback. I let her watch the entire film and she gave me some really good feedback. Her first suggestion was to add in a flashback that would explain where Hailey’s mom would be. When she told me this, I quickly realized that the film is a bit unclear with how Hailey decided to go to the mall of all places to search for her mom. I decided to meet up again with Hailey and film a scene of her phone getting a reminder that she had to go to the mall with her mom. This made the plot of my film a lot clearer.  The next person that I let watch my film was m

Editing Blog: Sound Engineering

Hello and welcome back to my blog! After I dealt with the clip lengths and transitions, it was time for me to work on the sound and text. But before I could do that, I needed to convert the downloaded music that I previously found and turn it into an MP3.  To do this, I went on safari and typed in ‘MP3 converter’ and clicked in my first site. I then uploaded the download and let the site convert it for me. Once I had my music, I went back into the CapCut project that I started. I added in the music to the project and trimmed it down so that it ended when the film was finished. Some of the clips that I used had background noises that I didn’t want in the film. So, I turned their volumes down to zero or used the reduce noise feature that CapCut had. After getting the music fixed, I worked on getting the voiceover added in. One of the scenes shows Hailey sitting on the couch, trying to remember where her mom went. I used the voiceover feature on CapCut and had Hailey make a recording of h

Editing Blog: Cut and Trim

Hello and welcome back to my blog! Me and my group have finished the filming process for our final task. I had so much fun working together and I’m very happy with how smoothly things went. While the filming process was relatively easy, I knew I had a lot of editing to do. With so many scenes and only two minutes, I knew that I had to cut down or even remove some scenes from the film.  My first step was logging into CapCut and creating a new project. In this new project, I added all the clips I wanted to use in the film. In total, it all added up to two minutes and twenty seconds. This wasn’t over by much, but I knew a couple of scenes may have to be removed. But, before I started to remove any scenes, I decide to cut down the scenes that were too long. Since I didn’t want the scenes to have awkward cut offs, I made sure that my group didn’t stop filming the second a scene was finished. This meant that the clips had extra seconds of Hailey dropping her acting or me speaking. I cut do

Filming Blog: Dark and Mysterious

Hello and welcome back to my blog. After school was finished, I headed straight down to Hollywood Beach so that my group could film the mall scenes in the film. I was nervous about filming in the place, even after visiting and my extensive research. Thankfully, my group didn’t spent long here and I made sure all the scenes needed were filmed quickly and in good quality.  At first, when I arrived at the mall I couldn’t find the entrance. It look a bit of searching, but it was actually hidden behind the hotel pool and few construction materials. When I got to the entrance, I called over Hailey so that I could start filming. The first thing that was filmed was outside of the mall. A tilt was used to show Hailey standing in-front of the mall. There were a few people in the area and I was worried that they would be in the film. However, the position that the scene was film at did not show any people around the area. With that done, I moved inside the building so that I could get the shot of
