Filming Blog: The Hard Work Continues!
Hello and welcome back to my blog! The first few scenes of my film were finished. I was very happy about how smoothly things were running, especially compared to my last project. Since, the progress was so well, I suggested that my group take a short break. Now that I was hydrated and full of energy, I was ready to continue the filming.
The next scene that was filmed was in the hallway. I wanted it to be slightly dark to create a suspenseful feeling, but I didn’t want the video to be low quality due to the lack of light. The most important thing that I had to do was make sure that the environment was silent. Since the film is about the last girl on Earth, there cannot be any signs of other human life in the film. This meant that Hailey’s family could not be seen or heard anytime throughout the film. To ensure this was the case, I made sure that any room we wanted to film in was empty. To make sure it was quiet, Hailey’s parents and siblings were kinda enough to go to the park while we filmed.
I really struggled with one of the following scenes that I filmed in Hailey’s kitchen. This scene required a high angle. However, to get this angle, I had to get on my very tippy toes. This made a wobble a lot so the scene ended up shaky. To get the shot, I had to drag over a chair! Once I finished this, my next scene used a Dutch angle to show the confusion that Hailey felt over her mom being missing. At first, I wanted to do a full 360, but it ended up being hard to turn my hand fully around. So, I ended up settling with doing a slight turn instead.
Since I wanted to get all the house scenes done, I decide to film the ending scenes early. For the very last scene, I used a close up of Hailey’s head as she looked around. Then, I grabbed her shoulder, making her turn around, before I end the film. This scene was very fun to film, so I ended up laughing a lot. Thankfully, I was able to contain my laughter and get the perfect shot.
With that, all of our house scenes have been filmed. I had so much fun and I’m ready to move on to the mall scenes on another day. This is Kyra signing off!
