Filming Blog: Getting The Tools
Hello and welcome back to my blog! For my final task, I knew I wanted it to be filmed on an actual camera this time and not on a phone. This would be my first time using a camera for this class, as I forgot to charge it during the last project and had to use my phone. To get the camera, I went to my teacher and asked if my group could sign one out. When I got the camera, I knew that other people’s films from our previous projects would be on there. So, using the USB memory recorder, I knew that the camera could be connected to a laptop. Once connected, previous films could be deleted and space could be made for my upcoming project.
Another thing that I knew my group needed was a tripod. In my opening sequence, I wanted to use a tilt. With the tripod, I would be able to use techniques like this in my film. The tripod would also provide better stability. In the last project, I had to re-film many scenes because my hands were shaking. Thankfully, one of my group members has one at home.
Finally, the last thing I needed was a ring light. One of the locations that I will be using in my film is an old abandoned mall. Since the mall is no longer in use, it will be very dark inside. I have a ring light at home, however it is on the bigger side. This could make it difficult to travel with. So, in order to have good lighting with the hassle, I suggested we use Hailey’s ring light. This one is much smaller and can be transported easier. With that, I had the materials to start filming the opening sequence. This is Kyra signing off!
