Planning Blog: Scripts
Hello and welcome back to my blog! Here is the script my group and I prepared for our opening sequence:
SCENE ONE- BEDROOM
A teenage girl named Hailey wakes up in her bedroom. A close up at the bottom of her bed shows as she kicks her feet out of bed and steps down onto the floor. With a medium long shot she’s seen taking a long stretch. As she stumbles to the bedroom door she yells out, “MOM! Remember my presentation is today, I gotta stay after school.” Hailey hears no response, but figured her mom simply couldn’t hear her due to the distance.
SCENE TWO- BATHROOM
Hailey walks into the bathroom and shuts the door. She turns on the sink and bends over to rinse her face. After washing her face, she examines it in the mirror and takes a deep sigh before leaving the bathroom.
SCENE THREE- HALLWAY
With a tracking shot, the camera follows Hailey out the bathroom and into the hallway. Once again, she calls out to her mother.
“Mom you need to pick me up from school today! If you forget me there again I’ll literally never look you in the eyes again.”
Hailey waits for her mothers response again but hears nothing. With a pause, she timidly calls out for her mother again.
SCENE FOUR- LIVING ROOM
Confused and looking for answers, Hailey goes into her living room to find her family. A pan of the living room reveals that it is completely empty with no signs of life. As she looks at the empty rooms, a flashback shows her memories of the lively room that was once filled with love a joy. She continues to call of for her family, searching everywhere before returning to the living room
Hailey plops down onto her couch with a Dutch angle to show her confusion. As her thoughts race the camera zooms in and her chest rapidly moves up and down as panics over her missing family. Suddenly her head snaps up and she remembers her mother mentioning going to the mall. Hailey gets off the couch and races towards the front door
SCENE FIVE- OUTSIDE OF HOUSE, SIDEWALK
As Hailey races out of the house, she looks around and realizes the streets are empty as well. She quickly begins to run to the nearby mall.
SCENE FIVE- OCEANWALK MALL
When Hailey enters the mall, she’s shocked to see that the once busy place is entirely abandoned. She walks around but finds nobody there, not even security. She calls out to her mom again.
“Mom, are you here?” She yells.“Please come out, this isn’t funny.”
Once she realizes that nobody was in the mall, she decides to head back home.
SCENE SIX- OUTSIDE OF HOUSE,SIDEWALK
Hailey walks back home, defeated. “Where could she be,” she questions.
As she approaches her front door, she notices that it’s left open. Filled with joy, she runs in thinking her mom is finally home.
SCENE SEVEN- ENTRANCE OF HOUSE
When she enters the home she speeds down the hallway just to realize that she once again heard nothing. Then, she feels a hand touch her shoulder and a voice call out her name. With an extreme close up of her eyes, we see them widen before the screen goes black.
