Storyboard Blog: Mapping Things Out

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

First Scene:

In the first scene, an over-the-shoulder shot and medium close-up will be used to see our material girl getting ready for the day while looking at the mirror. This scene will be filmed at Isabel's house, not at the mall.

Second Scene:

In the second scene, our actress will be on her way out while grabbing her car keys and walking to her car. This scene will be filmed from behind at eye level to help transition between the two locations.

Third Scene:

In the third scene, our material girl’s car will pull up to the mall. Surrounding designer stores will be shown as the car drives by. As it begins to slow down, it would be filmed using a tracking shot at a high angle.

Fourth Scene:

In the fourth scene, our actress will get helped out of the car and will have a line of boys waiting for her. To display her elegant outfit, a tilt will be used before it transitions into a wide shot to show all the boys around her.

Fifth Scene:

In the fifth scene, a poor boy will offer the material girl his love, but due to his lack of money, she rejects it. A high angle will be used in this scene to show the power differences between the working and upper classes.

Sixth Scene:

In the sixth scene, the actress will instead go to the rich boy who has money. This scene will be filmed at eye level with a medium-long shot. The transition from angles in the fifth and sixth scenes will be used to show that the rich boy has the same power as her due to his economic status.

Seventh Scene:

In the seventh scene, (if the store allows us to film) the camera will pan to show all the expensive items in the store. If we aren't allowed to film inside we will just do a pan from outside instead.

Eighth Scene:

In the eighth scene, our material girl tries on multiple items from expensive stores. A split screen will be used for this scene, one side a medium close-up and the other one an extreme close-up.

Ninth Scene:

In the ninth scene, one of her followers paid for all her items. This demonstrates how the only thing the material girl wants is things of monetary value. A medium-long shot will be used for this scene.

Tenth Scene:

In the tenth scene, the boys will carry all her bags while our material girl walks around. An eye-level tracking shot will be used for this scene.

Eleventh Scene:

In the eleventh scene, she walks out of the store with the boys still following her around and carrying her bags.  This scene will be filmed at eye level using a zoom.

Twelfth Scene:

In the twelfth scene, she ends up grabbing the most expensive bag which is the one that the richest boy is holding, and turns around to face a much richer girl. Our material girl leaves with her while leaving all the boys in confusion, this concludes our music video.  An eye-line match will be used to film this scene.

This is Kyra signing off!
