Update Blog: Far From Home
Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week I planned on continuing my filming process. The first thing I wanted to do was check out the filming location. I knew that the mall was abandoned, so I was concerned about getting inside and whether it was safe to go. However, this week I am away on a school trip hours away from the mall. This meant I wasn’t able to visit until I got back. So, before going to the mall, I decided to look for reviews from others who have.
The first place I went to was my friend who lived in Hollywood. He told me that he visited the mall some time back and that it was safe structure wise. However, I was warned about homeless people in the building. This caused some safety concerns for me, as I didn’t want to run into anybody who could be potentially aggressive or violent while filming. I alerted my group about this concern and we all decided to avoid filming in any part of the mall that had someone present.
The next thing I wanted to figure out was getting into the mall. Abandoned places are typically restricted from the public. To avoid trespassing, I decided to further research oceanwalk mall online. After a bit of searching, I found an article on the mall. While reading the article, I learned that the mall was located by a hotel. People staying at the hotel typically like to explore the place. Therefore, the doors are open to the public, making the mall a bit of a tourist attraction. With all this information, I was ready to pay the place a visit when I got back. This is Kyra signing off!
